The bad news: Summer is, more or less, officially over. The good news: Menswear in the fall is totally awesome. However, right now, we’re somewhat straddling those two time periods. With Labor Day right behind us, and brisk Autumn nights ahead, you’re stuck with warm beach days and cool evenings. As such, this is a great opportunity to start sneaking in a few of those less beachy and more fall-like items into your lineup (hint, you can totally still wear them at the beach).
For this latest shoot, I teamed up with the folks at Club Monaco, and fellow-Boston Blogger Laura (aka Lo So Fancy) to portray that late summer feel. Here’s what we found. Firstly, gin and tonics are key just about any time of year – but you probably didn't need me to let you know that. You’ll see our model George expertly putting together a few throughout this post. Secondly, don’t be afraid to get out of your sartorial comfort zone at the beach – the rules of summer don’t apply anymore. You’re allowed to wear pants there, just roll them a tad to keep the salt water off the cuffs. Long sleeves and shorts are totally game too, even if you’re wading about. Make sure to keep casual though – no need to tuck in those shirts or stick to your usual work belts. The weaved leather example below is on point.
My favorite piece from Club Monaco's fall collection is definitely the camo khakis George is wearing. With a slightly tropical spin on the camouflage style, these pants are the perfect example of transitioning from summer to fall.
So with that, we say so long to another sun-soaked summer, and hello to a beautiful and brisk Autumn season. We'll be releasing the rest of the photos over the next few days. However, in the meantime, If you're interested in seeing this shoot from Laura's perspective, you can check out her post here.
A big thanks to Club Monaco for the clothes, Laura for collabing and George for his steely good looks and five o’clock shadow.
